The Beans Days in Tearce was organized by the Center for Education and Development – CED from Tearce and it first started in 2010. For all these years it brings together people from different backgrounds, ethnic groups, confessions, social status, cultures, etc. The main goal of the event is to promote different cultural values through traditional food, traditional dancing, presenting the natural beauties of the region, local agricultural products, etc.
For this year, besides the usual activities as boiling beans, making halva, and chestnuts, there was a cultural artistic part where cultural artistic associations (Albanian, Macedonian and Turkish) gave a performance. More than 200 people from Macedonia and Kosovo* had the opportunity to taste and enjoy the traditionally cooked beans from the region. The event took place on the 24th of September 2016 in the courtyard of the primary school “Kiril Pejcinovic” – Tearce, starting at 12:00h.
There were many stands with traditional food that was prepared by the children from the primary schools of the municipality of Tearce and from this year it also involved several schools from Jegunovce and Tetovo, which prepared an art work made out of beans – a mosaique.
This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe.
