The Standing Working Group for Regional Rural Development (SWG) in SEE within the EU funded project:” Regional cooperation and networking in the field of agriculture, rural and economic development of cross-border areas” organized workshop ” Capacity building activity in the beekeeping sector in “Pcinja-Krajishte” region and
Value chain mapping – honey value chain and tourism value chain in “Pcinja-Krajishte” region.
The capacity building workshop was held from May 07th to May 08th(Monday to Tuesday ) in restorant “Ranch” in Rankovce, Macedonia. The capacity workshop was attended by representatives from Stakeholders from the “Pcinja-Krajishte” cross-border region and represented a mix of tourism workers (private and public sector) agricultural producers and also trainers, SWG staff, agro and tourism experts.
During the three days training moderators/trainers helped the participants to improve their knowledge on the following topics:
-Good beekeeping practices – precondition for production of quality products
-Quality of honey – legal requirements and results from previous researches
-EU quality logos – Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographic Indication (PGI) & Examples of branding of products and regions
-Legal requirements for branding of agricultural products in SEE countries
-Experiences with branding of honey from Vlasina, Serbia as “Vlasinski med”
-Plenary discussion about the possibilities for branding of honey from “Pcinja-Krajishte” region
-Value chain mapping – honey value chain and alternative tourism value chain in “Pcinja-Krajishte” region
