The Third New Year’s Fair of local products in Niksic, Montenegro for the first time had a regional character and gathered more than 200 exhibitors from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, FYR of Macedonia and Albania. Around 10.000 visitors visited this fair which lasted for three days.

The aim of the event was to promote local entrepreneurship, with emphasis on agricultural products. The Fair, besides promotional, had a selling and humanitarian character as well. Many manufacturers/exhibitors had the opportunity to present and sell their products to a large number of visitors. Starting this year, they presented their products to new markets, beyond the borders of their own country, considering that the Fair had a regional character. The Fair provided an opportunity for networking and establishment of cross-border contacts.

Beside private companies, NGOs, institutions, some of exhibitors were children from primary schools, representatives of the Association of Paraplegics, the Association for assistance to persons with difficulties in psycho-physical development, which justified the intention of the project team to create opportunity for everyone interested to be included in this kind of promotion, cooperation and socializing above all.

During the event, at the round table held in IPC “Tehnopolis” small scale producers of traditional and typical products from the SWG ABD cross-border region of “Krš” discussed the possibility for adding value to the traditional, typical and artisan’s products.

This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by SWG.
