The aim of traditional Fair “Prsutijada” is to promote traditional processing of meat products from Zlatibor Mountain and Uzice region since 2001. Also, one of the aims of this event is to facilitate the process of generating income from this type of economic activity. This event is one of the most visited events in the cross-border region of “Drina-Tara”, with over 10.000 domestic and international visitors.
In order to further strengthen the quality of the event and to improve its visibility, this year there will be invited guests and producers from other SWG ABD cross-border regions from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, as well as exibitors from Istria, Croatia and Slovenia. The regional character of the event will contribute to better promotion of the event, regional cooperation, networking of producers and development of regional rural economy.
Zlatibor Mountain and the village Mackat are well known for the dried beef, pork and sheep meat products, and these products were demanded on Belgrade and Sarajevo markets, and very often were present in Vienna and Budapest. Today, dry cured meat products are the most important segment of Zlatibor’s rich gastronomy offer and are followed by dairy products. Zlatibor inhabitants produce domestic brandy – rakija, made of old autochthonous sorts of plum. Zlatibor restaurants offer domestic specialities characteristic for this area.
This activity was part of the European Union funded project “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of the Western Balkan countries in the EU integration process” implemented by SWG.
