The regional event “Outdoor camp Lagadin” will be organized by IKAR Hut, Lagadin, Macedonia and will be held in the period 3-5 March, 2017 in Ohrid, Macedonia.
The aim of this regional event is to bring together teenage students from FYR of Macedonia and Albania, at the age between 14-16, to learn and practice skills in nature and mountain according to environmental principles. Considering the low environmental conscious among people, the aim of this regional event is to address youth as the population which could start making changes in how new generations treat the environment.
The youth as a main pillar of the new coming generations will learn the importance of the Ohrid Lake as the oldest lake in Europe and its endemic life existing for over 1.5 million years. The participants will learn about basic environmental laws and upgrade the ecological conscious among mass population in the region. The sport activities which are also part of this program will teach young students the importance of sport and healthy lifestyle, as well as basic outdoor skills in the nature.
This regional event will contribute to promotion of the historical, cultural and natural heritage, as well as the living tradition and artisans of the region, which is essential for development of sustainable eco-tourism offer in the region.
This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe.
