For the third time this regional event in Rudo gathered 130 local producers, entrepreneurs, NGO’s, public institutions, local authorities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.The aim of this event is promotion and preservation of traditional products of the cross-border region “Drina-Tara” and other SWG ABD regions, support of the improvement of the economic activities in the Municipality of Rudo and development of better cross-border cooperation and exchange of experiences among entrepreneurs in the region.
The Fair was opened by the Ambassador Mr. Jonathan Moore, Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, who stated that it is a great honor to be in Rudo and expressed his gratitude to the gathered participants from the cross-border region.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Rudo, Mr. Rato Rajak, said that the aim of the Fair is to promote entrepreneurs, local products, handicrafts which distinguish the region on the border between Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. “Our goal is to encourage inter-municipal and inter-state cooperation, to encourage the exchange of power and experience that will bring benefit to all and to promote kindness, friendship and companionship” stated Mr. Rajak.
The SWG Coordinator for the cross-border region of “Drina-Tara”, Ms. Danica Nesevic, stated that the SWG for the second time is supporting this regional event within the EU funded project. “The event is important because it promotes cross-border cooperation and traditional values, as well it is important because the whole local community is participating in organization of the event: public, private and civil sector and young volunteers and we are hoping to continue good cooperation in the future” stated Ms. Nesevic.
In addition to the promotion and exhibition of local products, this year’s fair brought innovations compared to the previous two years, with competition of non-affirmed rock bands, competition in preparation of fish soup, thematic lectures for raspberry producers, beekeepers and youth, recycling competition for scholars.
At the Recycling competition named Transform waste into art –disseminate your message and contribute to protection of the environment participated scholars from Gorazde, Visegrad, Rudo, Foca, Cajnice and Rogatica from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This regional event contributed to the establishment of links between entrepreneurs, agricultural producers, scholars, local authorities, enhancing the dialogue for better joint cooperation in all sectors.
This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe.
