The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe, within the SWG EC project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration”, supported the organization of the regional manifestation “Roses of Lipolist” which was organized in the period of 16-18 June 2016, by the Tourist Organization of City Sabac.
The regional event promoted regional tourism, with an accent on encouraging of the economic development of the region and its rural population, by promoting natural, cultural and traditional values through promotion of expansion of production of roses as a great potential of the cross-border region ”Drina-Sava”.
The manifestation is organized each year at the end of June and is a three-day manifestation. It started with the announcement in the pedestrian zone of the city of Sabac, through distribution of promotional material and 1000 roses. On the same day, in the evening, on the main square in Sabac, music concerts in order to promote the festival were organized. On the second day, in the ethno village of painter Slobodan Topalovic and in the yard of the family Marinkovic musical and poetic evening dedicated to the art and tradition were organized. The main day of the festival was Saturday where competitive flower show, exhibition and sale of plants, agriculture, souvenirs and domestic products was organized. During the entire festival members of the stakeholder group from the cross-border region ”Drina-Sava” participated.
The impact of the event is reflected in the economic benefit for the participants that had the opportunity to sell their product during the organized fair.
