Slow Food of Prokletije – Fair of traditional products and food, 26 March, 2017 in Berane, Montenegro

The Slow Food Fair was organized by the Regional Development Agency Komovi-Prokletije from Berane, Montenegro on 26 March, 2017. The aim of this regional event was promotion of the local cuisine as mutual cultural and traditional value of local communities from all three countries which are part of the cross-border region of “Prokletije-Bjeshket e Namuna”.

The event highlighted the unique regional products as an important part of the overall tourism offer of the region. The Fair was attended by approximately 50 exhibitors from all three countries, including the representatives of Slow Food convivia from Montenegro, Kosovo* and Albania, operating in the region. Traditionally made products, food such as cheese, honey, local dishes, medical herbs and tea, berries, mushrooms were part of the offer. Also, traditional national dishes from this region have been presented for tasting to the audience.

The Fair was also a good opportunity for networking among the producers, exchange of ideas and know-how, providing opportunities for further cooperation initiatives. The event was an opportunity for direct communication between the producers and the visitors as potential customers and partners.

This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe.
