4th Youth Night Falcon Games “Dobrun 2016””, 24 September, 2016 in Dobrun, Visegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe, within the European Union funded project “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration”, will support the organization of the regional manifestation 4th Youth Knight Falcon’s Games “Dobrun 2016”, which will be organized by the Serbian Falcon’s Society “Soko” on 24th September 2016 in Dobrun, Visegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Following the tradition of the Falcon’s movement in Slavic countries, which was very active between the two world wars in the 20th century, the Serbian Falcon’s Society “Soko” started the Youth Knight Falcon’s Games in cooperation with the primary school “Vuk Karadzic” in Dobrun in 2013. The regional Falcon’s movement was formed in Visegrad in 1908. Throughout its existence, the society and its members have been involved in numerous social, cultural and sports activities.

In the Youth Knight Falcon Games will participate more than 100 children from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, from the territory of the cross-border region ”Drina-Tara” in the following sports disciplines: long jump, wrestling on a tree trunk, running in a big bag, as well as football penalty shootout. Children will also compete in a race with eggs placed in tablespoons. In addition, there will be organized an arts exhibition titled “My Home”, an exhibition of homemade weaving products, and tasting of local and traditional food.

The symbol of the games is the Falcon cap, which will be made by a tailor and modeller from Visegrad, one of the few who cherishes this old craft, especially emphasizing the development of traditional garments. The Falcon cap is entirely handmade with feathers of rooster’s tail, making them original and unique.
